Different Types Of CBD Oil

As the interest in and use of CBD oil in Canada continues to grow, there are various terms related to CBD oil that are consistently thrown around. It can get a little confusing so we’re going to review the different types of CBD oil in Canada and explain what all these terms mean to help you decide which one is the right fit for you. Let’s dive in and take a detailed look at the four different types of CBD oil available in Canada right now.

Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

Full-spectrum CBD oil can also be called cannabis whole plant extract as it contains all essential phytocannabinoids and phytonutrients of the cannabis plant. The hemp or cannabis plant matter is subjected to mild distillation which removes toxins and chlorophyll but leaves behind healthy compounds such as cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, amino acids, and vitamins. Full-spectrum CBD oil also contains very small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC which is why it may not be preferred by some people. However, legal full-spectrum CBD oil in Canada must contain less than 0.3% THC which is safe to use and very rarely causes any psychoactive effects or a ‘high’.

Full-spectrum CBD oil is popular in Canada because it’s been said that all of these chemical compounds work better when taken together and boost the effectiveness, making full-spectrum CBD oil even more useful. This is what’s know as the entourage effect.

Our favourite full-spectrum CBD oil that we’ve used so far is this peppermint CBD oil.

Broad-Spectrum CBD Oil

If you’re not comfortable using full-spectrum CBD oil because of the small presence of THC but want to benefit from different compounds of the full cannabis plant, you can opt for broad-spectrum CBD oil. Broad-spectrum CBD oil also contains all essential phytocannabinoids and nutrients from the cannabis plant without the inclusion of THC. With broad-spectrum CBD oil, the cannabis plant is subjected to a strict distillation procedure to strip it of all THC content.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolate, sometimes referred to as pure CBD oil, contains up to 99%-100% of CBD only. There are no other components of the cannabis plant in CBD isolate. Because CBD isolate usually contains a higher potency of CBD, a smaller dose is required. CBD isolate is usually preferred by people who are looking to incorporate CBD into their daily lives for a specific health condition rather than as part of their overall wellness program.

Water-Soluble CBD

Water-soluble CBD is a unique CBD option because it has a very high absorption rate (also called bio-availability) compared to other CBD oil. It means that more CBD is absorbed by your body, so technically you would need to consume less CBD and at a lower dose, compared to traditional CBD oils.

Water-soluble CBD is created by using sound waves to break the CBD down into tiny particles.

If you’re looking for better absorption and pure CBD (no THC or other parts of the cannabis plant), water-soluble CBD might be the perfect fit for you. However, if you’re looking to benefit from more of the cannabis plant, full-spectrum CBD oil is a better match.
